Granted we don't get to see nearly enough of it, but what we do see is quite interesting. The aquatic connection begins with our heroes - Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn, two nicer and more hard working Jedi's you'll never meet. Feeling certain that something is amiss on the planet Naboo, they head there to investigate. Like most out of the way planets, Naboo isn't exactly prime real estate. In fact it's primarily a large swamp, filled with all matter of swampy creatures (including fish ... which we'll get to shortly). Once on Naboo they encounter the Gungans, a race that appears to have originated as the result of a frog eloping with a donkey. Don't laugh .. I'm sure there is a frog connection here. Heck, the name Gungan actually refers to a real live species of frog Being heroes, the Jedi naturally arrive just in time to save a Gungan who's having a bad ear day (Gungans don't have hair, but they do have long floppy ears). With the a contingent of droids hot on their trail, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon escape into the swamp waters guided by the rescued Gungan, Jar Jar Binks. They soon arrive at

Extractions: Hey there to all the ichthyophiles who love this as much as I do... Fish are today the 3rd most popular pet in the United States, only behind cats and dogs. Aquarium-keeping is a hobby that is known to lower blood pressure and relieve stress . However, some people who start out fishkeeping go in with a lot of misconceptions and do not educate themselves on what it takes to raise healthy fish and achieve a balanced environment for them until it is too late. This is why this site and many of the great links given in this site exist. It is is inexcusable to me to consider any animals "throwaway pets" just because they are cold-blooded and can be bought for under a dollar at a pet store to amuse a child for a week or two. Many fish have a natural lifespan of many years, exhibit fascinating behavior, and can bring a lot of rich enjoyment to your family's life, as well as serve to introduce your children to cycles of Nature, the magnificant biodiversity that exists within it, and respect for all living things. I've been keeping fish for the past 18 years or so, during which I guess I've maintained about 15 or so display tanks of 10-75 gallons, in addition to many more breeding/propagation tanks. I have also done some formal research in fish parasitology and immunology for teaching laboratories, and worked for short stints as a veterinary technician at pet store employee. Even so, I far from consider myself "the expert" on all things fishy... we are *ALL* still learning, after all, and I for one, learn something new every day. But I can say that I have taken every chance to read literature, surf the huge number of great web pages on keeping fish healthy and happy...as well as appreciate being given the great opportunity to pick the brains of many more experienced aquarists from around the world. I welcome the chance to share this information, or have others share with me, regardless of how long you've been "into" keeping fish.
