5-0 out of 5 stars very satisfied with purchase
books arrived earlier then advised and the quality of the books were much better then advertised -- totally satisfied with purchase

1-0 out of 5 stars Author
As much as I am interested in purchasing his book, I am so turned off by how unprofessional Mr. Randall is.While I was looking through the various books for window treatments on Amazon.com, I noted several times that he had commented on a customers' book review stating that their thoughts were a "joke", etc.I would think that a professional designer and author would have much better and more constructive things to be doing with his time.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Encyclopedia if Window Fashions
This book is excellent. The condition of the book which was sold as being "like new" was a big dissapointment. Many of the pages were torn and scribbled on.

2-0 out of 5 stars same ol' same old
would have been much better as line sketched - colors and patterns persuades the customer in one way or the other

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for home decorators
My local fabric store had this book, and after looking over the first few pages, I knew I had to have it in my personal library.I will never buy another window treatment pattern again. This book covers everything!Given are instructions for taking window measurements, yardages required for various window treatments, solutions for "challenging" windows, and many detailed illustrations.Appropriately titled, this is THE Encyclopedia of Window Fashions. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent work. Very useful.
This book proved to be of very good quality. It is very detailed and very up-to-date. I strongly recommend it to every one who is interested in the theme of english language.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not quite as expected.
When I selected this book, I was under the impression that the book was in very good condition. When it arrived, I was disappointed by the condition. The cover was torn and tattered. There is obvious water damage along the base of the book.Although, the book is dry, smells fine, and perfectly readable, this is not the condition I would have spent $20 on.I would have at best rated this book in acceptable or good condition.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book for any interested in the origin of the English language
Purchased this book for a Senior English class. It's the only book I did not sell back that semester. This is an in-depth look at the origins of the English Language. As well as having a great text, it's also a beautiful book, full of maps colored graphics relating to the text on the page.Would recommend to any P.O.E.M. member. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language
It was a very good transaction. The book is great and I've got it very quickly. So thank you very much!! :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, but even superior service from Amazon
I'm writing this review mainly because I couldn't find any other place where I could put my comments about the excellent service they offer at Amazon.
The Cambridge Encyclopedia is a magnificent work, and I'm very glad to finally have it; but it wouldn't have been so good if it hadn't been for the fast, neat, and professional service given at Amazon.
I live in Chile, South America, and my delivery date was due to August 20th. Despite the distance, my book arrived last Saturday, August 9th, in perfect condition, in a safe box with no flaws.
Thank you Amazon for providing the best service ever in international delivery. I completely trust them, and I certainly recommend it for anyone who'd like to purchase items internationally.
Keep on the excellent work! Thank you very much!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Just so you know. . .
Like all the other Kingfisher "First" books, this one is lovely and well suited to elementary-age minds and reading levels.Lots of pictures and nice, large print;lots of cool experiments. As for the controversial section on reproduction, this is exactly how it reads:"To make a baby, a man puts his penis inside a woman's vagina to release sperm. The sperm swim toward the egg and fertilize it.The fertilized egg grows into a baby inside the uterus."Frankly, if I could re-write or delete one sentence from this book, I would find nothing else objectionable--but I'm just not sure my six-year-old is ready to wrap his head around this information.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, simple book that covers just about any questions your child might have
Nice pictures, good index and TOC. You can find just about whatever you need to explain to young kids about their bodies.

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful but biased
I think Bible believing Christians will find this book to be an invaluable help for personal study and when witnessing to skeptics and to those Christians who do not believe in biblical inerrancy.
It is packed with clear explanatory answers to some of the most troublesome Bible difficulties and apparent contradictions, and it is arranged in biblical order to make it an easy reference guide.
However, some ethical opinions expressed in this book are strongly debatable.
Statements like: "a kingdom that is of the world has a perfect right to resort to warfare and the killing of enemy aggressors" (page 343) or "pacifism is completely lacking in support from the Word of God" (page 344) seem to be more political propaganda than religious thought.

2-0 out of 5 stars Extremely simplistic - if you're not a Christian, this book WILL NOT quell any doubts.
I bought this book hoping it would give me more fuel to counter discussions with non-believers against the Bible - this book DOES NOT do that.It presents a very one-sided view of the text of the Bible and it doesn't take into consideration any extra-Biblical texts or discoveries that prove problematic to some scriptures.

I am a Christian, I do believe in God, I do profess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. However, I have increasingly become a textual critic of the Bible as it exists today and see many things in the scriptures that would seem clearly at odds with what we know to be fact - ALL of which is ignored completely by this book.

If you bring this book into a discussion with someone who's a well-informed non-Christian, they will tear you to pieces because it provides no concrete solutions to the many "problems" we encounter with many scriptural arguments.Honestly, I do not understand the glowing praise for this book, it's written on a very simplistic level and typical of Zondervian books, it's practically Sunday School reading material - it's just that basic.

Case in point comes right at the front of the book where the author is insistant that Moses personally wrote the Pentateuch, except the part about his own death and burial, of course, which was likely written by someone else.He doesn't mention the problem that a large number of the towns mentioned by "Moses" didn't exist in the time of Moses. That would seem to be a problem to me that should be addressed. He also doesn't explain why Moses contradicts himself repeatedly, and basically, the author bases his whole case on Mosaic authorship because "the scriptures clearly state 'and Moses wrote the Law of God' or "and Moses wrote what God had spoken."HELLO - if anything, this clearly points out that Moses DID NOT write the Pentateuch.Moses constantly refers to himself in the third person? This makes as much sense as saying, "and Luther wrote his 29 theses" - so therefore, any book which states that "Luther wrote his 29 theses" HAS to have been written by Luther himself -sorry, same nonesensical logic.

That's just one of many, many points where this book fails to help in any regard. It stretches from Genesis to Revelation without answering any serious problem or challenge to Biblical accuracy.I wish this were a better book, I sincerely do, but it's definitely shallow reading intended for those who already believe and DO NOT spend time on weighty questions.I WOULD NOT recommend this book to anyone seeking answers to serious matters of Bible inconsistencies or textual problems.

3-0 out of 5 stars New International Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties
New International Encyclopedia of Bible Difficulties [NEW INTL ENCY OF BIBLE DIFFICU]

I purchased this book to send to a native missionary in Zimbabwe. My preacher recommended it as a helpful book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource.
Dr. Archer was a true Bible scholar and a brilliant linguist, knowing 27 different languages. This is an excellent reference for a serious Bible student who wants to research the hard sayings of the Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Outstanding
This book is written without any apologies from the perspective of an true orthodox Christian.Archer's academic credibility is impeccable and thankfully he left this book behind so a new generation could defend the biblical worldview aggressively.

Product Description
Otaku: Nerd; geek or fanboy. Originates from a polite second-person pronoun meaning "your home" in Japanese. Since the 1980s it's been used to refer to people who are really into Japanese pop-culture, such as anime, manga, and videogames. A whole generation, previously marginalized with labels such as geek and nerd, are now calling themselves otaku with pride.

The Otaku Encyclopedia offers fascinating insight into the subculture of Cool Japan. With over 600 entries, including common expressions, people, places, and moments of otaku history, this is the essential A to Z of facts every Japanese pop-culture fan needs to know. Author Patrick W. Galbraith has spent several years researching deep into the otaku heartland and his intimate knowledge of the subject gives the reader an insider's guide to words such as moé, doujinshi, cosplay and maid cafés. In-depth interviews with such key players as Takashi Murakami, otaku expert Okada Toshio, and J-pop idol Shoko Nakagawa are interspersed with the entries, offering an even more penetrating look into the often misunderstood world of otaku. Dozens of lively, colorful images--from portraits of the interview subjects to manga illustrations, film stills and photos of places mentioned in the text--pop up throughout the book, making The Otaku Encyclopedia as entertaining to read as it is informative. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fun book about a strange subculture
This is a fun a-z about a special Japanese subculture. It is full of information. Some of it seems a bit dated in the fast moving world of youth culture, but that is always a risk when writing about this subject. One weakness with the book is that you do not get any information about how this subculture fits with the rest of Japanese culture. Overall I can still recommend if you want to understand more.

You might also want to check up the companion volume Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential: How Teenage Girls Made a Nation Cool.

5-0 out of 5 stars moe-ru hon desu. A definitive book on Japanese subculture.
The first time I ever heard the word Otaku, or paid attention to it, was around 1999 or 2000, when there a were a series of muggings in the Akihabara area and the victims were all "otaku".The young punks picking on them called it "Otaku-gari" or Hunting Otaku. Apparently, teenagers and younger, would come to the area loaded with cash to buy dolls, games, and comic books and since they tended to be a little wimpy--they were easy pickings. Words like "moe" (affection for fantasy characters and 2-D objects etc) were things I never understood very well. This book does a fantastic job of explaining the mind of the Otaku, the various influential anime (Japanese animation) films and there are a number of stand alone pieces on Japanese authors and creators that are outstanding. I also enjoyed Patrick's personal stories and his explanation of his own experiences with the subculture. More than a reference book, it's a joy to read and eye-opening.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally an encyclopedia to read from cover to cover
Awesome. I love anime, but there were still a few questions that this book answered. It has a permanent place next to my anime and manga collection. Went to an anime club of mine the other day and sure enough they have it to. if you love anime, it is a must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Otaku son loved it!
From the minute he unwrapped this book, my son was impressed.Lots of information. Some of the illustrations are a little risque (of course, he didn't mind) I would rate it a PG-13.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!

5-0 out of 5 stars great book
This book is wonderful.I purchased it for my 6 year old and he loves to read it.Even my 3 year old loves it.They ask to read it each night before bed.It presents a lot of information, but it is also a great discussion starter book.We read some things and then talk about the subject even more.It also helps the kids to come up with their own questions on whatever subject we are reading.THe internet links are great also. This is a very all encompassing book that hits many of the highlights of Our World. I would recommend this book to any child interested in learning more about the world in which we live.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Beginning Encyclopedia
A very good beginning encyclopedia of earth science. It is great for my ESOL students who need easy reading material.

5-0 out of 5 stars English as a Second Language
I purchased this book as a gift for a young boy in Germany who is studying English. He wrote me a thank-you note (in English) saying tne book is "brilliant." Even the adults around him had great fun looking at this lively book. I was attracted to the interactive format of the book. It can be used with the internet.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
This is a beautiful book that encourages children to learn about their world.Information is provided in bits, making it easy for children to digest. In addition, the internet links provide unlimited learning on the topics in the book.As far as the person who complained that they showed a photo of NYC without the World Trade Centers, I think you need to be aware that the book was published in 2002 and the WTC no longer was there, nor will ever be there in the future.Don't we need to depict the here and now truth in our books for children?

1-0 out of 5 stars Colorful book - bias presentation
While the book is well made and quite educational, I can not avoid but see the bias of the publisher in presenting the "world." I almost wonder what world are they presenting? P. 52-53 the "City" depicting NYC without WTC, and the picture of a Mosque in the middle of their "city" (no other religious buildings there i.e. no church or synagogue near by). Living in post 9/11 America I find this offensive. This is certainly not the "world" I would want my child to live in. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugh waste of money.
As a collector of spirits I thought this would be a valuable resource. I was wrong! As a previous reviewer mentioned the binding is cheap. But my complaint is that it lacks information on many notable spirits: gargoyles, incubi and succubi etc... Also it states that there are correspondences for the spirits (colors) however most of the listings include no such info or how to summon the alleged spirit. So those are my complaints and I'm sending the book back to amazon. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Informative and straightforward Guide
An excellent, gentle guide to including natural magic into one's life.
This book and others have helped me to come to terms with the mystical side of every soul and the universe we live in - without eroding my more mainstream belief in the one G-d.

1-0 out of 5 stars Finding a Long Lost Friend On Amazon!
I found a long lost friend on Amazon!
Years ago I used the book Crystals, Gems, and Metal Magic (cunningham) as my "Stone Bible". During moves and life's shuffles, it lost its way in my home. Recently I received the "stone calling" (part time mentoring), and soon realized no book I had on hand (or the ones at the local rock shop),could compare with the information and diversity this one offers. Not having alot of cash on hand (and being pleased with Amazon book purchases before), I turned to Amazon and found it right away. It was priced for more than reasonable and the condition was excellant. Many have reviewed this book and are quite inpressed, and more so when I share with them what I payed for it.
So far I have never been burnt with purchasing books at Amazon and in the future will go to them first.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gems, Crystal Magick
This is a reference book that I recommend for those that wish to enter the world of gemstone, crystal and metal magic. I would say it is almost a must for anyone that needs a reference on this subject.

The description of each mineral or metals mystical properties are clearly described in detail to let one know what it is best suited for. The chapters preceding the descriptions are written in a simple, straight forward manner which I find refreshing as I don't have to spend a great deal of time looking for what I need.

Some of the pics are confusing as they don't actually represent the stones we find in our travels. If in doubt, purchase ANOTHER gem, Crystal and Metal book.

Highly Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cunningham's Encyclopedia of crystal, gem & metal magic
A useful tool for learning how to work with gems and minerals for everyday life. A good refrence for anyone's library.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit too old for my child
Content is a bit too old for my 5 year old. This is not the books fault as the reading level says 9-12. We have all the DK First reference series and this one will serve her better when she gets a little older. Highly recommend all the DK First reference books. They are wonderful.

5-0 out of 5 stars So pleased!
My 5 year old son has so much fun with this book. The photos and information is outstanding and I have to admit I have wasted away a few hours reading through it myself!

3-0 out of 5 stars Slightly Disappointing
After reading the product description and the other reviews, I was expecting this book to be centered around the solar system. When in fact, the section on the solar system is one of the smallest sections, and doesn't really go into much detail about the planets -- least of all other space objects like Ceres, Eris, the Kuiper Belt, etc.

The title is very misleading. This is not an encyclopedia about space itself, but rather space science: astronaut training, satellites, and other space technology. They even put in a mention of stormtroopers from Star Wars (space in pop culture), and gave four pages to UFOs.

There is a tremendous amount of information provided, and this is a nice addition to our homeschool library, but I don't understand why our solar system wasn't given more attention. I noticed that a lot of the science facts found in this book could also be found in the DK First Science Encyclopedia.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Space Book
My daughter was so excited when she got this book. It has quite a bit of information about space and the moon. It was in excellent condition. Very pleased with all the books that we have purchased not only from Amazon, but also from private sellers.

Product Description
In this revised and expanded second edition of the bestselling Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns, Thomas Bulkowski updates the classic with new performance statistics for both bull and bear markets and 23 new patterns, including a second section devoted to ten event patterns. Bulkowski tells you how to trade the significant events -- such as quarterly earnings announcements, retail sales, stock upgrades and downgrades -- that shape today?s trading and uses statistics to back up his approach. This comprehensive new edition is a must-have reference if you're a technical investor or trader. Place your order today.

"The most complete reference to chart patterns available. It goes where no one has gone before. Bulkowski gives hard data on how good and bad the patterns are. A must-read for anyone that's ever looked at a chart and wondered what was happening."

1-0 out of 5 stars For all the statistics.....
For all the statistics in the book, this book is missing the crucial statistics that measure up to the scientific method.Where's the standard deviations and tests for significance? If you're mathematically inclined like me then you will agree with Aronson of Evidence Based TA that the math in this book is subjective.

This book is not completely without merit. It helps to understand what mistakes others might be making and the author is a truly sincere and honest writer.I don't doubt that he's made money as a Chartist using his methods.Unfortunately, it is too subjective and you'll probably lose money following this book (in the long run) without some more accurate measure of testing. For that, you'll have to do the grease yourself. The money is better spent on an intro statistics book.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's all here...
...every chart pattern analyzed down to every detail. Lots of "nuggets" you as a trader can pick up to help you with your stock trading success.

An outstanding book to use as handy reference in your journey as a winning stock trader.

3-0 out of 5 stars Every chart pattern known to man
This book can be helpful if you are a devotee of technical analysis. This book will not make you rich, but it will help you understand chart patterns.Bulkowski has done a great job in cateloging probably every chart pattern one can think of.

2-0 out of 5 stars Give this a pass
This book is a review of different chart patterns from a statistical point of view. Actual stock market data is used to understand the validity of standard chart patterns. I like that the author uses statistics, but why on earth doesn't he use standard deviation and significance tests to understand which patterns or volume trends are significant? That would have been a good way to sift through the copious amount of data in the book. It is very unfair against the reader to just dump all the data in the text. Having said this, the book contains some useful data if you are interested in chart patterns, but it requires a lot of extra study (something the author could have done for you, the reader). The book is also far too long. For each patterns the author describes a fictitious trade that somebody made. That imaginary somebody is even given a name and profession; different in each chapter. These 75 pages or so could have been cut out easily. And I'm sure more cuts could have been made. With these changes the book might have been very good.

3-0 out of 5 stars Yikes!
Ok, considering i have not spent that much time reading this book, mainly because it creates nausium with all the statistical talk, i think its a pretty good book.Just know that its not a story or interviews or anything like that.Lots of percentages. The volume i bought actually has a reddish cover, i think its slightly newer. Also, i happened to switch over to learning how to trade using bar charts, i like it much better. The candles....work, but i hate how i see all the different candle signs i have learned all over the place!!And i think all the candle patterns are seen just as easy with the good ole HLCO bars.I recommend Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques by Steve Nison if you want to learn about a bunch of candle signs/patterns...its an awesome book that i bought based on recommendations of two pro traders i follow.Good luck, never quit!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Usborne Children's Encyclopedia
My 6 year old calls this one "my reader." She'll sit down and pour over the pages for an hour!Great info and the internet connection makes the book even better. We own a good handful of Usborne encyclopedias and all 4 of my children enjoy them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Childrens Encyclopedia: The Usborne Internet-Linked (First Encyclopedias)
Every night before my 7 years old son goes to sleep, he randomly selects three pages that he like us to read from. That way he and I both learn new things about the world around us. Sometimes what is below and sometimes what is above. I cannot tell you how knowledgeable this book is. Certainly for children, especially if they are between the ages of 4-10 years, this is a fantastic gift. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Children's Encyclopedia
It's great to have the use of the internet, but having an actual book in front of you to hold and read and flip through the pages is so much more appealing to me.This is a great starter encyclopedia for children to have from age 7 and up. It's great for homeschoolers also. When they go through the book, it will give you an idea of what their interests are and what they want to learn more about. The pictures are realistic, beautiful, colorful. There are so many things in it to learn and lots of tidbits about everything from the body, science, earth, animals, sports, religions, materials, dinosaurs, and on and on.Great encyclopedia to own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resourse for a younger child
I have been homeschooling my 5 year old using the Usbourne Children's Encyclopedia.Great intro to social studies and geography.I just use one page at a time and make up a list of questions that I use afterwards to see if he remembers and if not we discuss the topic such as how are rainbows made again until he understands.Great for his attention span at this age. After this book, I plan to then use the Usborne Encycl. of Geography. We have not yet used the internet part of the book, but that also looks promising.Great value if you read the book and not just use the book as a resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Little Ones at a Bargain Price!
This encyclopedia has an excellent coverage in an easy to understand language for elementary lower grades. I bought it for my son who is at second grade reading level and enjoys geography and science. This encyclopedia has the same content as its bigger edition, which costs about $21. Only that this is more handy and still has a good size print. The pictures are beautiful. Altogether, it worths more than what I paid for. What a deal! ... Read more

Product Description
Spaghetti, gnocchi, tagliatellea, ravioli, vincisgrassi, strascinati--pasta in its myriad forms has been a staple of the Mediterranean diet longer than bread. This beautiful volume is the first book to provide a complete history of pasta in Italy, telling its long story via the extravagant variety of shapes it takes and the even greater abundance of names by which it is known. Food scholar Oretta Zanini De Vita traveled to every corner of her native Italy, recording oral histories, delving into long-forgotten family cookbooks, and searching obscure archives to produce this rich and uniquely personal compendium of historical and geographical information. For each entry she includes the primary ingredients, preparation techniques, variant names, and the locality where it is made and eaten. Along the way, Zanini De Vita debunks such culinary myths as Marco Polo's supposed role in pasta's story even as she serves up a feast of new information. Encyclopedia of Pasta, illustrated throughout with original drawings by Luciana Marini, will be the standard reference on one of the world's favorite foods for many years to come, engaging and delighting both general readers and food professionals. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great rescource
This book is one of the best resources for pasta that you will find. very well written with a lot of information about every type listed along with the history and other aliases. ingredients, uses, methods, dimensions. everything you would need to know about the particular pasta shape. Only one criticism would be that they are listed alphabetically so you must know the name in order to find what you are looking for with ease. the plus side to this is that you will spend a bit of time reading a brief synopsis of all the pastas until you find what you may be interested in. if you get the digital version you can tag the shapes as you see fit for easy reference.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely, but slightly lacking
I bought this book after reading a review of it, and I'm so pleased - one of my hobbies is making pasta, and this book gives an incredibly detailed history of every kind of pasta imaginable. As someone of Italian heritage, I also found the book's cultural notes on when certain pastas were/are served in Italy, historical anecdotes and explanations, and other details to be fascinating. Overall, this is a very worthwhile addition to the library of anyone with an interest in Italy, food history, or pasta making in general.

The three very minor complaints I have are that the great illustrations of pasta shapes are not universal, which is a shame - it's hard to get a clear picture of what some styles look like from the description alone. Also, as someone with an interest in making pasta, for all of the homemade (as opposed to factory) styles, I would appreciate minor notations about recipe ratios so that I could try making some of them. I haven't read through the entire book yet, so perhaps I missed a note about this topic. Also, I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that it would be nice to get a translation of the pasta names for those of us who don't know Italian, as the few that I've managed to translate for myself tend to be entertainingly descriptive. These are so minor, however, that I wouldn't even consider them when recommending the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book
Highly recommend this book if you love pasta and the history of it.

As others said, it is not a cookbook which suits me perfectly - I didn't expect one and I received what I wanted.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pasta on Steroids!
If you're into pasta and history, this book is incredible. You can feel the time and energy that went into this very informative book. As they said, don't purchase this book looking for recipes. Purchase it to understand what this food meant over centuries to it's people and their culture.

3-0 out of 5 stars It is just what it is
This is truly an Encylopedia of pasta. In that regard, it is well done and quite thorough. It is well researched and gives amazing history of each of the pastas. I use it as a history book. That said,it is lacking drawings for much of the pasta and that is unfortunate. The book would have been truly wonderful if it included photographs or drawings of each of the pastas. Without them, it makes some of the descriptions quite tedious, leaving too much to the imagination. Translations of more of the names of the pastas, would have also added much to the book since the names of the pastas, in Italian, are quite humerous: the mouse tails, the blind husband. It is not a cook book and that is a point that should be underscored: it is what it is, an Encyclopedia. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent.
One of the few accurate & comprehensive books about our Native Americans. A must read for anyone interested in Native American Cultures.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeds Expectations
I wanted something thorough and informative about Native American Tribes.I also wanted something clear and concise, but not so bogged down with detail that it was a chore to weed through.
This encyclopedia gave me what I wanted and more.I'm writing a fictional novel with a Native American character and needed help in knowing him and his background.I was impressed with how easy it was to look up information by tribe and get interesting tidbits, that if I so desired, I could research further.
This is definitely a writer's dream.I feel confident writing about a character from any tribe with this book in my collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Native American history
Excellent. As a Englishman, in my middle 60s, interested in native American history since I was a child, this book is very informative.

4-0 out of 5 stars The only major fault I find is with the illustrations
I had read about most of these tribes in the past in web searches and other references.
That is why I fault the illustrations ( the stone tools look noting like their actual pictures)and that there isn't a better coverage of tool, housing and food sources. The language groups are well covered and their relationship are made pretty clear.
I was looking for my local California Indians that are in San Diego County.
They are noticeably absent in this coverage or disguised pretty well.
Since most of this information is in my old 1950's World Book
encyclopedia under different sections, I was hoping for a little more information here. I have to admit that it is a good reference source.

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD INFO / USEFUL/ Comprehensive
I am a fifty seven year old retired elementary teacher...but
my lifelong interest has been the Plains Indian Culture.
I just asked my hubby to get me this book for Christmas after
spending about ten minutes looking at it in Barnes and Noble
yesterday.
Good sized print, the info is arranged as user friendly.
I saw tribes mentioned in there that have been omitted from other
books about North American Tribes.A comprehensive guide.
Many drawings....colored illustrations.
My only negative -----I wanted to see a few more maps ...regional
maps of the tribes.
ALso...at the store ...I was looking at a SOFTCOVER edition....not
a hardcover one.(I would not pay 75 dollars for hardcover when
it is available in softcover. ) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book for kids who love animals
My son was 3 1/2 when received this book for Christmas, he is now 5 and is still in love with it. He enjoys it so much that I am getting ready to purchase a second one, because it is so worn from him looking at it every day. It is so bad that he will not go to bed without nor go in the car without. He really enjoys the pages about lion, tigers, bears, and the wolfs. He chosen an animal to be everyday from the pictures. It has brought a lot of family fun for us. I recommend to all!
