This book deals with the perennial question of whether man's true nature is good or evil.This book says they are opposite faces of the same coin.Thus, people have both good and evil tendencies.Only one's self-control, or the lack of it, against eternal sins makes one or the other to prevail.

Clásico que no hay que dejar de leer
Clásico libro de Paulo Coelho.No es mi favorito pero si están con ganas de leer algo espiritual es una buena opción y mejor si después leen El Guerrero de la Luz.Estos dos libros son importantes para entender mejor los siguientes libros de Coelho, pues aquí empieza hablar sobre la Tradición etc, aunque no es necesario si no los quieren leer.

Ante lo inevitable los mas sabios aprenden!
Una excelente historia, de la cual uno puede aprender que todo hombre pasa por lo inevitable en el momento que menos lo espera, y aqui la leccion de esperanza ¿Hasta que punto podemos determinar nuestro destino? y lograr fortalecerse y aprender de ello y que cada persona logre determinar su propio camino, realmente un excelente libro ultra-recomendado :) !!!!

Lo Definitivo y Lo Inevitable
Este fue el primer y mas inspirador libro de Paulo Coehlo que he leido. De hecho lo prefiero a EL Alquimista.

Lo he leido tres veces y no dejo de aprender. Esta historia de Elias es motivadora, al ver a un profeta de Dios (Elias) a veces lleno de temor, otras de coraje, otras con fe y muchas otras con duda. Creo que lo que mas me gusta, es esa semejanza a nuestra realidad, pues aunque creamos en Dios, es humano que alguna veces dudemos y estemos en desacuerdo con el.
Si lo lees, te recomiendo que lo hagas lentamente, digiriendolo poco a poco, pues hay muchos mensajes que pueden pasar desapercibidos.

This will turn lead into gold!
A mystical tale about following recurrent dreams! This is the first book I have read of Paulo Coelho. After reading this book, I would say that it comes close to being a modern classic. The reason why it does not merit the status of a classic is because it falls short of a punch in the climax. The writing loses the intensity of the build up that has been promised at the beginning.The character sketches of Santiago, the Andalusian shepherd boy, the King, the Tangiers crystal seller, the Englishman, Fatima and the alchemist have been etched well. Coelho writes with wisdom and experience behind him. He has understood the pulse of the Spanish, the Arabs and the English quite well. While reading through this book, we also get enlightened about the art of alchemy.
It is a tender and gentle story. I will give you few glimpses: "People say strange things, the boy thought. Sometimes it's better to be with the sheep, who don't say anything. And better still to be alone with one's books. They tell their incredible stories at the time when you want to hear them. But when you're talking to people, they say some things that are so strange that you don't know how to continue the conversation." In one of the passages, Fatima tells Santiago, "The desert takes our men from us, and they don't always return..we know that, and we are used to it. Those who don't return become a part of the clouds, a part of the animals that hide in the ravines and of the water that comes from the earth. They become a part of everything ... they become the Soul of the World." This book teaches us how we all belong to the soul of the world which is in turn the soul of the Creator. It also teaches us that once we get on to the quest of our dreams, it is the soul of the universe that beckons us to succeed and inspires the environment to help us should we be true to our hearts. ... El Mago
La obra es extensa, tiene demasiados detalles geograficos de Brasil, algunos redundantes que aburren un poco. La traduccion al español no es muy buena pero se entiende bien y el autor logra trasmitir los pasajes alucinantes de la vida de Coelho. Lo recomiendo, les aseguro que se asombraran.

Morai relata la vida de Paulo maravillosamente...
Aunque la traduccion al Espanol no es mucho de mi agrado, cada capitulo me adentro e ilumino hacerca de la no tan comun e intrisica vida de mi autor favorito, Paulo Coelho.

No cabe duda que las incongruencias de una vida en familia que no comprende las pasiones e intereses de los crios; muchas veces conlleva a una vida de martirio--o susodicha locura, como la que impusieron estupidamente a Paulo.

Recomiendo este libro para el lector avido de biografias inigualables!

Most enchanting edition of a wonderful tale
Wow. What a beautiful special edition of this great story. Ill leave review of the story to others but this hardcover illustrated edition is so cool if you love this book. Nothing like it. The quality of the cover, the binding, the pages and the style of font are all great. But of course the special pictures done by Mobius are the treat. All together it feels old world and timeless. On top of all this the jacket illustration is really excellent and properly mystical, taken from an illustration inside. If you love the Alchemist I think you will love this version most of all. I do.

THIS BOOK FOUND ME...
I had never heard of this book until a friend of mine in Spain sent it to me as a gift. When I read it I was blown away. This fable struck something deep inside of me and for those that are truly sharp, there is a story within the story with a very powerful message.This is my most favorite book and I recommend it to all who need inspiration and maybe even direction when life seems to be uncertain.

it drives me nuts that it is not often mentionedthat this story was based on a tale from the 1001 arabian nights.not to say that coelho's version doesnt add anything new or is a pleasant enough read. it certainly is a lighter read than borge's version of the same tale..but at least borges makes it clear that his version is based on a tale from the 1001 arabian nights.

I love this damn book!
This is such a smooth read and so incredibly entertaining and insightful.

The author is not a native English speaker and his writing style would make most English professors cringe but I loved it.His writing flows so smoothly and he uses run-on sentences and violates alot of the standards but that is what makes the book so special.

Now I am a Buddhist but I found nothing here that offended my own religous beliefs (although many parts of the book are spiritual because the boy in the story is on a spiritual journey).

Buy it or check it out at the library.Its such a light read and so easy to digest and contains many pearls of wisdom.
